	Winter Break Nepal Tour (Dec 28 - Jan 11)


	Winter Break Nepal Tour & Trek – Kathmandu Valley – Pokhara – Ghorapani (Pun Hill) - Chitwan – Kathmandu

Day 1	Arrive Kathmandu – check into Hotel Nirvana Garden in Thamel – Afternoon guided walk through Durbar Square and Asan bazaar in the old part of Kathmandu City.
Day 2	Morning flight to Pokhara – afternoon free for sightseeing, boating on Fewa Lake - stay at Hotel Barahi.
Day 3	Morning hike to nearby ridge to get in shape and catch the early morning views.
Day 4	Drive to Nayapul (beginning of the trekking trail) and begin the trek to Tikhedhunga or Ulleri
Day 5	Trek to Ghorapani
Day 6	Early morning mountain views at Pun Hill; following breakfast, trek to Ulleri
Day 7	Back to Pokhara and Barahi Hotel
Day 8	Rest day, laundry, shopping – evening folk dance program with dinner.
Day 9	Travel by road on a van to Chitwan National Park after breakfast – stay at Chitwan Jungle Lodge.(www.chitwanjunglelodge.com)
Day 10	Explore the jungle on an elephant back and Nature walk and bird watching accompanied by qualified naturalist. Tharu folk dancing in the evening.
Day 11	Fly to Kathmandu – Stay at Hotel Nirvana Garden Hotel (www.nirvanagarden.com)
Day 12	Early morning one-hour optional Everest Mountain Flight – return to hotel for breakfast and free day except for late afternoon tour of Boudha Stupa.
Day 13	Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley beginning with the Hindu Temple of Pashupati, historic city of Bhaktapur, and Patan Durbar Square – lunch at Bhaktapur.
Day 14	Final Day – choice of a short day trek within Kathmandu Valley, or shopping, personal sightseeing. In the evening, departing Nepali dinner.
Day 15	Depart for airport.

Total cost of tour: $1470 per person based on double occupancy

Single supplement: $200

Trek is rated moderate due to steep climb to Ulleri.

Nepal Visa:

-Multiple entry 15 days US$ 25 or equivalent convertible currency

-Multiple entry 30 days US$ 40 or equivalent convertible currency

-Multiple entry 90 days US$ 100 or equivalent convertible currency

Tourist Visa Extension:
Visa extension fee for 15 days or less is US $ 30 or equivalent convertible currency and visa extension fee for more than 15 days is US$ 2 per day
Tourist visa can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a single visa year (January – December).

-International Airport Departure Tax (approximately $20)

-Tips are not included except for transfer of luggage. Tipping of porters and guides on walks, resort and park guides, and long-distance drivers, is usually expected…and best managed as a group

For up to date public health information, go to www.cdc.gov and click on “travelers health” and select the county (Nepal). During March, mosquitoes are not common at low altitudes even in Pokhara or Chitawan because of cool nights. But it’s best to be prepared and I suggest everyone travel with repellent (Deet or Picaridin, etc.).

Tourist visa is $30 for the first 60 days, available on arrival in Kathmandu. The process is simplified if you have exact change and the visa form completed on arrival at the Kathmandu airport, with three passport-size photos.
